Inks For Many Purposes

We stock a variety of inks to meet your needs. If we do not stock a given ink or have it in the size you require we can special order it. Contact us for further details.

We can also cross reference many of the old Willard Marking Devices Willmark inks. Click HERE to see the Willmark Ink Cross Reference page.

General Notes

Dies - Most stamp dies are made of natural rubber (usually a gray or a redish color), and for most of the inks listed below, this is a suitable material. For some of our more robust inks, we recommend the dies be made of neoprene (a black material). The appropriate inks are noted. There are, however, still a considerable number of stamps made of photopolymer, which is a CLEARISH PLASTIC looking material. The solvents in the various inks will attack this. Photoploymer-die stamps can only be used with water based hand stamp ink.

Image Quality/Smearing - Because they are done by hand, stamped impressions tend to be rougher than printed impressions. They can have uneven image quality and be subject to smearing. If you are having a problem with smearing a faster drying ink will help. The other main approach is to construct a jig. For high print quality, consider pad or tampo printing or silk screening.

Materials - Different materials require different inks. On this page is a general description of our inks properties.

Reconditioning - Inks dry by absorption into a porous material or by evaporation. If an ink evaporates quickly on your product, it will do the same on your pad. Inks designed to work on nonporous surfaces often need to be thinned or "reconditioned" before they can continue to be used. If the ink is a pigment type, the ink will crust on the pad making reconditioning a necessity. Most inks have a special recondioner that should be ordered when you buy the ink. To minimize this problem go with the slowest drying ink suitable to your needs.

Shipping - Many inks contain volatile solvents and cannot be shipped by air. Some will incur hazardous material charges on ground shipments. Please allow extra shipping time when ordering.

MATERIAL TO BE MARKED

SIZES

Paper and Cardboard

Stamp Pad Ink - This ink is suitable for ordinary stamp pads and both plastic and metal frame self-inkers. Works by absorption into paper. This ink is available in a wide range of colors:

Black, Red, Blue, Brown, Green, Hot Pink, Orange, Purple, Turquoise, and Yellow.

Sizes Available: 2oz, Quarts

Coated and Slick Paper

istamp Pre-Ink Stamps are the most convenient method of marking some of these surfaces. We have tried a variety of coated papers with good results. They do take time to dry, 10 to 20 minutes, and may not work on very high gloss surfaces. Submit a sample for trial.
(Available in Black, Red, Blue)

istamp refill ink can also be used to re-ink Ultimark, X Stamper, Accustamp & Maxlight pre-inked stamps.

PLEASE NOTE:
THIS INK IS ONLY FOR USE IN ISTAMP PRE-INKED STAMPS.

1/2 oz refills

Super Marking Ink aka Price Marking Ink - Originally developed for use in retail price marking on a wide variety of product packaging. Marks on many types of paper labels, plastic, glass & metal surfaces. Price Marking Ink is reasonably slow drying on the pad which makes it a good choice for ease of use. May be used in a felt stamp pad with a rubber hand stamp or in some self-inked stamps that uses a felt pad. Mark may be removed by some cleaning products or solvents and will fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight. Price Marking Ink is a dye ink so does not have the best density.
(Available in Black, Red, Blue, Green, Purple)

If White is required #1250 Ink or Slink Ink may be used. See below!
